Coming Back from War

Our legacy is not a Forgotten War
But the people who live under the flag we wore
Chose to turn their back and ignore
The soldiers coming back from war.

Vietnam was not our fight
We did not come home to spit or spite
But after fifteen years they chose to ignore
The soldiers coming back from war.

The Middle East is where we engage
Fighting ghosts and bombs and our own rage
Things we’ve seen and done we try to ignore
Because we are soldiers coming back from war.
